BATHROOM OF THE FUTURE: TOTO ADVANCED BATHROOM TECHNOLOGY
“Pushing Personal Cleanliness, Comfort, and Suistainable Sanitation to The Forefront of Bathroom Innovation”
28 August 2015, Singapore – TOTO is convinced that advanced bathroom technology is integral to the future of smart homes. The brand has evolved in conjunction with technological and societal trends, to introduce a collection of innovative products to the market, providing a host of ingenious technological solutions for a superior and sensory bathroom experience.
Technology, according to Mr Gani Atmadiredja, Managing Director of W. Atelier, “exists to help people and improve the ease of daily life.” Adding that “the integration of intuitive technology into bathroom fixtures, represents the very pinnacle of what is possible in the future of building smart homes.”
6 Performance Features for Sustainable Bathroom Sanitation: The Actilight technology allows titanium dioxide and zirconium present on the Neorest XH II Toilet, which are super-hydrophilic (water attracting) and photocatalytic (UV light activated), to react with natural resources such as water from the flush system and ultraviolet light from the sun, decomposing organic waste. Actilight also works wonders with other bathroom technologies such as eWater+ and Hydrotect.
The eWater+ technology found in the Neorest XH II Toilet takes it up a notch by electrolysing regular water as it travels through the washlet, resulting in an antibacterial liquid that will inhibit corrosion-causing bacteria, keeping the bowl fresh and clean for a longer time. When flushing a Neorest or Renesse Toilet, the cutting-edge Tornado Flush system utilises pressurised water from three powerful jets inside the bowl, to create a whirlpool cleaning action that will wash off every trace of organic waste for superior bowl cleaning.
The Hydrotect technology is an iridescent film of self cleaning, antimicrobial and air-purifying materials applied to Hydrotect Tiles, wall exteriors and interiors, that will inhibit the growth of visible mold, limescale and invisible odour-causing bacteria, lengthening the lifespan of the product and protecting the environment at the same time.
Revolutionising the way homeowners use their toilets, TOTO introduced a range of sensor-activated Auto Functions, such as the self-opening and self-closing lid, automatic air purifier and self-activating flush, or faucet attached to the Neorest Console Lavatory. This provides a touchless way to control the bowl lid and flush lever, which are obvious areas of hygiene concern. Taking this technology further is the EcoPower line of faucets which uses flowing water to spin an internal self-power generator turbine to both create and conserve energy, protecting the environment in the long run.
To know more about TOTO Technology, media is invited for interview opportunities and tour at TOTO Technical Centre in Eunos. ACTILIGHT and EWATER+
Actilight is a powerful cleaning system that brings about unparalleled levels of comfort and hygiene. It is the only technology that keeps the toilet clean on its own, ridding itself of both visible and invisible waste particles. Experience the pleasure of using a toilet that always looks and feels brand new.
ACTILIGHT
EWATER+
How it works
Actilight is a cutting-edge technology with two key features: a scientifically formulated glaze that’s fired onto the bowl and an ultraviolet light inside the lid. The glaze is fired with titanium dioxide and zirconium oxide. The titanium dioxide acts as the photocatalyst and reacts with the ultraviolet light to keep the bowl clean.
The zirconium oxide provides superior durability while giving the bowl a shimmering quality. The UV light installed on the side of the lid is activated for an hour once the lid is closed. These two technologies work together with oxygen and water in the air to generate the photocatalytic process that decomposes organic matter. Actilight embodies TOTO’s long-standing dedication to providing cleanliness and comfort through technological innovation.
The Purification Cycle
First, the toilet sprays a thin mist of water on the bowl before each use. The titanium oxide interacts with this mist, coating the bowl with a thin layer of water so waste doesn’t stick and easily flushes away. After use, the lid closes and the UV light blankets the bowl. This activates oxygen molecules in the air and water to break down organic matter that bacteria feed on. Actilight, combined with all other TOTO cleaning technologies such as eWater+, makes it practically impossible for bacteria, dirt and mold to accumulate in the toilet bowl. The whole process is also Earth-friendly, eliminating the need for harsh chemicals that negatively affect the environment.
NEOREST LE II AND XH II WITH ACTILIGHT
NEOREST LE II
NEOREST XHI I
Neorest LE II and XH II are the two toilet models equipped with Actilight technology. The Neorest series was first launched in 1993 and is a washlet integrated with TOTO’s comprehensive range of innovations. The washlet is TOTO’s signature product that is an electronic toilet seat with an integrated wand and control panel. Along with Actilight, the Neorest LE II and XH II are equipped with eWater+, a clean technology that systematically sanitizes the toilet bowl and the bidet nozzle. They also feature a warm water spray with various adjustable functions, a heated seat, a sensor-activated lid that opens and closes by itself, an automatic flush, a deodorizer and an adjustable dryer.
TORNADO FLUSH
TORNADO FLUSH
Every TOTO toilet features the brand new triple-jet Tornado Flush to ensure superior hygiene. This type of flush uses water in a whole new way. Rather than flushing water straight down into the bowl, the three high-pressure water jets generate tornado-like vortex of water, forcing waste off the bowl surface. This technology not only ensures maximum hygiene, it is also exceptionally quiet and water-saving. Tornado Flush is facilitated by a rimless design that allows the flush to cover all areas of the bowl – even the most hard-to-reach areas.
HYDROTECT
Hydrotect is an environmental cleaning technology that harnesses the power of light and water to clean surfaces of dirt and grime. It can be used in numerous applications, from exterior walls and glass to interior walls and floors. Thanks to its antimicrobial, anti-mold and anti-odour capabilities, Hydrocera, TOTO latest series that embeds with Hydrotect technology also helps keep the air and the environment cleaner and healthier. The results? Less time and money spent cleaning, cleaner air and environmentally responsible building practices. In short, a better world.
Properties of Hydrotect
○ Photocatalytic Hydrotect produces a number of environmentally-beneficial effects through a process similar to photosynthesis in plants.
○ Antibacterial metals make it possible for surfaces with Hydrotect to decompose bacteria in poor-lit areas as well as under the sun. This improves hygiene on walls and floors in indoor areas such as toilets, bathrooms and kitchens.
○ Anti-Odour. Through the decomposition of organic substances, surfaces remain free of stains that often emit foul odours.
○ Highly Durable. The new series of Hydrocera tiles is fired under extremely high temperatures of 1200°C making it exceptionally durable and long-lasting.
ECOPOWER
The TOTO EcoPower faucet is similar to other sensor faucets in hotels, restaurants and public restrooms, in that it anticipates your need for water with a discreet sensor. This trigger alone reduces water consumption dramatically – water flows only when it’s needed, and the faucet can’t accidentally be left running.
TOTO EcoPower models are different in a big way. Unlike other sensor faucets, it requires no electricity or disposable battery replacement for sensor operation. Instead, contemporary-styled spouts provide a cascading flow of water over the users’ hands – less than one-tenth of a gallon per cycle – while a hydro-powered turbine charges up from the very same flow of water, storing the electrical current in rechargeable cells that, in turn, power the sensor for the next user. EcoPower is highly efficient, replenishing its charge in as few as five uses daily, with optimum performance at 10 uses per day.
ECOPOWER
How it works (putting water to work)
EcoPower puts water to work by supplying the very energy they consume in faucets and flushometer valves. The flow of water spins the high-efficiency turbine to create and store power. Each turn of the turbine powers and recharges capacitors, powering the sensor and solenoid valve, which are backed up by the battery. With as few as 10 uses a day, the battery is seldom used and can last up to 19 years.
How it works for faucets
The water-powered turbine in the EcoPower faucet creates an electrical current that is stored in rechargeable cells to power the Smart Sensor System. EcoPower replenishes its charge with as few as five uses a day and is optimized at 10 uses per day. This translates into reduced electricity use, lower maintenance costs and better ecology with hands-free, automatic-shut-off functionality.
How it works for valves
The hydro-powered turbine in the EcoPower valve charges the power supply during usage and provides maximum performance in even the most demanding, high-traffic commercial spaces. EcoPower valves eliminate costs of installing power supplies and wiring as well as maintenance costs for battery replacement.
Eco Power Valve Technology – Made to Work Every Time
TOTO’s piston valve technology offers a marked advancement over traditional rubber diaphragm valves. Upon activation, a micro-porous cup seal keeps the piston self-lubricated with the incoming water supply while longer piston travel and a self-cleaning 360° debris screen reduce problems of continuous running and overflow. The piston seat will not warp or become unsealed, reducing maintenance costs.
