Each piece of Gloster furniture is made from teak that is sourced from the carefully managed, Indonesian plantations of state-owned Perum Perhutani on the island of East Java. Teak has been the benchmark hardwood for fine outdoor furniture for more than 700 years – it is extremely hard-wearing, highly resistant to rotting and almost impervious to the effects of sun, rain, frost or snow due to its high natural oil content.

With a history that traces back to West Africa in 1960 and decades of fine-tuning teak furniture into enduring, beautifully buffed and naturally finished furniture for the outdoors, Gloster has outlasted many a competition – the result of using carefully selected logs with the fewest defects and fine craftsmanship at work.
