W. Atelier Launches First Republic of Fritz Hansen Flagship Store in Singapore

30 September 2014, Singapore – This past week, some of the most timeless pieces of furniture ever crafted were gathered under one roof and celebrated with good food and wine. On 18 September, W. Atelier hosted the official launch of the first ever Republic of Fritz Hansen flagship store in Singapore. Guests were treated to an up-close and personal encounter with the luxury pieces, both classics and newer designs, from the 142-year-old Danish furniture icon. The launch of the Republic of Fritz Hansen flagship store brings with it the brand’s 20 th century design heritage with a shot of contemporary cool to the sunny shores of Singapore, where people have fallen in love with Scandinavian design’s simple,unfussy lines matched with graphic patterns or delicate colours.
The evening soirée was attended by 300 specially-invited guests who soaked up the celebratory atmosphere by admiring the furniture pieces and indulging in a fine selection of gourmet food from the elegant Garibaldi Italian Restaurant and Bar, and Danish inspired cocktails by Drinkdings. Guests were heard applauding the thoughtful details included in the event, “It’s such a fun, fitting touch to have cocktails named the Little Mermaid, Tivoli Gardens and Rosenborg Castle at an event celebrating iconic Danish furniture, with the Danish Ambassador in presence.”
The Guest of Honour was Her Excellency Berit Basse, Danish Ambassador to Singapore, while VIPs included Mr Dario Reicherl, Vice-President, Republic of Fritz Hansen (Asia Pacific), Mr Gani Atmadiredja, Managing Director, W. Atelier and Mr Lars Olsen, Managing Director, Lightyears. All gave speeches before the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which officially marked the launch of the Republic of Fritz Hansen flagship store in Singapore.
The store showed off the new Jaime Hayon masterpiece, the Analog™ table, as well as Arne Jacobsen’s iconic Drop™, a chair made in 1958 for the legendary SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, but never put into standard production, until now. Guests also took pleasure being surrounded by many classic masterpieces: after all, the company manufactures the designs of Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm, Hans J. Wegner and Piet Hein, and also newer pieces by Jaime Hayon, Cecilie Manz, Hiromichi Konno, Todd Bracher, Kasper Salto and Jehs+Laub. Two particularly lucky guests of the night were winners of the two rounds of lucky draws, winning a Drop chair and a series 7™ chair.
An exhilarating mix of good company, posh nosh and fun drinks, mingling among some of the most stunning furniture pieces made in modern history by a company whose core belief is in ‘Crafting Timeless Design’, resulted in an enchanting evening leve det gode liv (living the good life).
The official launch of Republic of Fritz Hansen flagship store was held on Thursday, 18 September, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, at the W. Atelier showroom.
